Today my (little) brother turns 30. It's hard to believe. It seems just like yesterday that John was throwing rocks in the mailbox or zipping around the house in his bigwheel (kool-aid stain & all). When I think about John I really don't think about how smart he is or how generous he is, I think about movies.
There once was a time when John & I went to the movies A LOT. It was great. As a matter of fact, the very first movie I saw without a parent was with John. We went to Oakland Mall & saw "Die Hard". There weren't many people in the theater. We quickly lost interest in the movie & thoroughly enjoyed annoying the other people by dumping nerds down the aisle. There are plenty more. Here's just a few: "Air Force One", "Contact" (John had his Matthew crush) & "Scream". We first saw it with our brother Kevin & I'm pretty sure Kevin actually stayed in the theater instead of going out to smoke every few minutes. Now, that was a scary movie the first time we saw it. I was living in an apartment (Jeff was bartending) & neither one of them would walk me in the apartment! John & I saw "Scream" at least 3 more times. Carmike Theater-easy to sneak into a movie!! Well, John is about to welcome baby#3 so going to the movies isn't so easy these days. Thank goodness for dvd's! We plan to head up there in October & I can't wait to watch "The Strangers" with him.
Happy Birthday John!!!!
