My favorite holiday is here and no, not because of all the candy. I have such great childhood memories of this night. My dad was like a big kid, it was the best. Carving pumpkins, roasting pumpkin seeds, popping popcorn, getting the pillowcases ready for the big night. When I was little, we didn't have school on All Saint's Day (went to catholic school) so we didn't have to go to bed early, it was great! My Mom had the best decorations. Our window sill was lit up with a skeleton & jack-o-lanterns. There was at least 2 carved pumpkins lit on the porch & cornstalks were on the poles. Our neighborhood in Michigan was huge. It was rare back then to see a dark house. A house around the block from us even had a popcorn machine! We were out several hours, my dad highly encouraged us to come & dump the full pillowcase & go out again! The night always ended with a good scary movie. Remember the original Dracula or Wolfman? Years later it would be the original Halloween. Sometimes we'd watch The Wizard of Oz. No matter the movie, it was always with my dad and a fire in the fireplace. I hope everyone has a fun Halloween-take those kids tick or treating! What are some of you favorite Halloween costumes from your childhood? Mine are scooby doo & wonder woman. My kids are both pirates-arrrgh!!!!!

I remember that house with the popcorn maker! Wow. It was so much fun trick-or-treating around Dickson. Remember one year I think Michelle was a Christmas tree? The good old days.
Catholic schools should still have off All Saints Day. I forgot about that. I guess this year it doesn't matter, but still.
Your kids "RRRRR" going to be great pirates!!!
