10 Years Young

Ten years ago at this time Jeff & I were in a panic because we didn't know what to do about Haleigh having the hiccups. She was so little but boy could she scream-and scream she did for five long months. Haleigh's real due date was November 18th. My quack of doctors insisted that she needed to be born because they believed she had a clubbed foot and wasn't gaining anymore weight. (I fed her well-cookies, skittles....) So I was induced at 7pm on Nov4th (Colleen Dwyer's bday :) ) & at 2:48pm on the 5th out came Haleigh!!! She was so little & flaming red I was terrified. No club foot & not too tiny: 6lbs, 7oz(my birth weight) & a great set of vocal cords.

10 years later my 83lb., 4ft. 10 in. daughter (doctor's today) is a force to be reckoned with. She would never say it though. She is thoughtful, intelligent & has such a love of life. She is my balance beam. Since she was 4 she wanted to be a big sister & is she ever just that. as much as Jack makes her crazy, multiply 10x her love for him. Watch out anyone who messes with him-she is a protector. It is the same way with her friends. She truly values her friendships & works hard at them. Since preschool she has had special friendships. Joby, Jackie, Kiara, Meg, & just recently she met a girl in NC at the movies & they hit it off! They have written each other twice already & one would think they have known each other for years. She loves school & treasures her teachers. I am so blessed to have her for my daughter. Sometimes I wonder what God was thinking giving Haleigh to me, I so don't deserve her. I want Haleigh to have everything in life I didn't have the courage to go for. I do believe she will walk the steps I didn't & I only hope I am around to watch & encourage her every step of the way. As she went to bed tonight we said our prayers & I thanked God for these wonderful 10 years. I can't wait to see what the next 10 bring. Happy Birthday Haleigh, e love you!!!

Oh so sweet!
You can never delete your blog. Haleigh needs this a reference during her teenage years. ;)

I hope she had a great birthday!
And dang-she's about to pass you up in height!
