North vs South: North STILL Wins!!

We just got back from a week trip to Ohio & a one day stop in Michigan and one thing I love to do (and guilty of) is judge. We haven't been up that way in four years! Perrysburg,OH is a great city from what we got to see. Nice homes, great shopping plazas, really nice parks (some right on the river) and in my opinion, the number one criteria, a FANTASTIC movie theater (oh yeah, schools & churches, blah, blah, blah). This theater has a full bar, a lounge area, a huge assortment of food and I didn't even get to check out the restrooms! I guess I had pictured Perrysburg to be an older-looking city but that wasn't the case at all. Close to everything including Cedar Point*. It was a great trip but went way too fast. I mean, just a week ago, I'm pretty sure Sharon & I were at Meijers (reason #1 the North beats out the South) waiting for the rain to end so we could go to Cedar Point (reason#2). I recommend anyone who lives in a ummm, 1000 mile radius go to Cedar Point. Ok, maybe a little closer. I am the first admit that I have become somewhat of a baby with big rides but hey,I'm a Mom, I was there for them to enjoy it. Two kids areas: Planet Snoopy & Camp Snoopy. Soo cute! A little bummed that only Snoopy was walking around but the gift shops make up for that! A great assortment of rides but go check out there web site (hardly anyone reads my damn blog anyways). I do have to add that I discovered a great drink that I HAD to have because I thought I had a bladder infection or something gross like that. So for the pain I had 2 options: leave the park & sit at a clinic for about 6 hrs. or drink alcohol. So Sharon (with Brennan & Jack) accompanied me to a cute little restaurant with a full bar! I had 2 bacardi & raspberries (I think) well whatever, they were YUM. I then was feeling as bit gutsy & went on 2 life-threatening rides: the mine ride & woodstock express. All in all, it was a great day. I would love one day, we had a family reunion when we all have a ton of money and stay for 2 days at one of their 3 great hotels. The park also has a water park and you re surrounded by Lake Erie. Gorgeous!!
We really only had a few hours in MI. We lost only 2 hrs. in Detroit traffic & construction!! (ok, to be fair we were a bit south of Detroit). Jeff & I really lack with sense of direction and at one point we were pretty sure we were in the middle of some sort of drug deal. We did manage to make our way into Sterling Hts. & I got to see the old house. I always get a bit nostalgic but I really couldn't see living there again. Then we went to a cookout given by Liz & Steve where Ryan played his last soccer game (he won!!! :)). It was a nice surprise because the park was in Roseville where my best friend from high school lived. It was great seeing everyone (a big thank you to Joe for spending time with us when he is very busy with work) and I always love talking to Nick about an issue very important to me: scary movies. He is brilliant I tell you. He may go to school in Winston Salem, NC. Road Trip!!
we ended the trip with a 2 day stop in Columbus, OH where Jeff's aunt & uncle live. Columbus is a really nice city & as usual his Uncle spoiled us. Jeff finally got to meet his oldest cousin Bob & his wife Mia & their adorable 6mo. old son Sean (who really enjoyed spitting up on me!) So that's it, sorta in a nutshell.

Thank you Sharon for a delisc home-cooked meal. Thank you Sharon & Pat for giving up your room & bed for us. Thank you Aidan for sharing all your toys with Jack & letting him watch you go potty! Thank you Breannan for being so cute and not pulling my hair. Thank you Liz for such a nice barbecue & making us feel so welcomed. Thank you Hoi for the great phone call & trip down memory lane. Thank you Uncle Bud & Aunt Sandy for lunch & being so understanding that we stayed in a hotel & not at your house. Thank you God for getting us home safely because I really do despise the mountains! Oh yeah
, the most important reason the North beats out the South. Very simple: Iced tea. That's right, none of this sweet & unsweet nonsense. I felt so much smarter just simply asking for iced tea. The way it was meant to be.

First, the woodstock express is LIFE THREATENING!!! Yeah right.

Second, what's the "real" way to serve iced tea?

Aw, nice post. You're welcome. :) We actually still miss you guys. And by that, I mean YOU & JEFF, too, not just Haleigh & Jack. Shocking, isn't it?

And I did laugh reading this:
I then was feeling as bit gutsy & went on 2 life-threatening rides: the mine ride & woodstock express.
Ha ha hah ha! OK, small rides, and the Woodstock one is a KIDDY ride! Sue, you also forgot to tell everyone that a unique man offered to sit w/ you on the Mine Ride. ;)

Going to the movies was great. STILL thinking about that movie! It was also my 1st time at that theater, and I was also impressed.

Nice post. Thanks again for making the trip up! I've been planning my blog post-it should be up in a day or two.

that's right, this HOT (so not) man offered his companionship during a ride but I declined. I should add that I did go on the Disaster Transport (indoor roller coaster) & I only heckled a kid a little. I would have loved to go on (I think) the Iron Dragon but my booze drinking took up too much time! And Pat- the PROPER way to drink iced tea is without sugar but the guest/consumer adds what they like. For me, it is 3 splendas w/ 2 lemons. Yum.

The North is better, but I'm biased coming from a traditional Connecticut/New England family. You don't see many clam bakes on the beach down here in the South.

Yet another reason I know that I belong in Seattle. I AM moving there--just you wait and see!

And although you think it is more civilized to only offer only unsweetened iced tea, I must point out that your "iced tea with 3 splendas and 2 lemons" is considered Sweetened Iced Tea. So I guess I don't really get that one... ;) Ok, you can yell at me now.

Haha--I also thought it was funny that you called The Woodstock Express a life-threatening ride. I figured from the name, and then later verified by Pat and Sharon's comments, that it was a KIDDIE ride!! Oh come on!!!

It sounds like you guys had a great time!! I'm jealous that you went to Cedar Point though!! My iPhone tells me that I'm 783 miles away from there, so I guess that 1000 mile radius rule applies...

Greg-

Yes, I want to be the one to sweeten by iced tea! Yet it should be served as just iced tea-you see?? Quit avoiding the topic-have you seen The Strangers yet???

Greg,
I invite you to come on up. We're about an hour from Cedar Point. Free place to stay....

Oh, and you are NOT moving to WA until we do. How dare you!

Sue-"(hardly anyone reads my damn blog anyways)"--ha ha ha! You crack me up!!

I loved this post! Take me in your suitcase next time!!!

Oh, and reading "Hoi" brought back memories!! Wow! I haven't heard about him in a looooong time!!

Sue--There is only ONE showing of The Strangers and it was at 9:50. I didn't go because I am here commenting on your blog. Sharon gets mad at me when I don't blog! Haha. Maybe I can talk my sister into going next week while I'm up in Charlotte, or I'll drive over to the 864 and we can go.

Sharon--I'm sure I'll make the trip one day. I hope to make a cross country road trip one day and Cedar Point may have to be a planned stop. Of course, I'll end in Seattle, where I'll probably just decide to stay rather than drive back to the east coast. I'll send ya a postcard from the Space Needle. ;)

Oh no you won't, mister! You'll take me with you. Nice try, GERG.
